How can we tell which names are most popular in Poland? Every year, the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs releases a new list of all the names (including the rarest ones) given to Polish-born children the year before. If you have read our previous article on top baby names in Poland, you may notice that some naming trends from 2017 are still going strong in 2021. Zuzanna, Julia and Zofia, for example, have been the top three most popular choices for girls for some years now and the first two of them were even given to the same number of babies in 2020! As far as boy names go, Antoni has topped the ranking since 2016 but Jan and Aleksander are clearly growing in popularity too.
If you would like to see the whole list of names given to children last year, visit the website of the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs (available in Polish only). If you want to find out more about Polish naming traditions, read our article On first name terms - top Polish names of all time.
